The Panzer IV was the most numerous German built tank of the Second World War. The Tank Museum’s example – shown here - was built as one of 229 Ausf D models between October 1939 and May 1941. It was then steadily upgraded, receiving the long KwK 40 gun, extra armour on the hull and Schurzen spaced armour on the turret.
