Cold weather in Austin: Where to find shelter
AUSTIN, Texas - Cold weather shelters are opening Saturday night for people in need of a warm place to stay. People in need of shelter are invited to go to One Texas Center (OTC) at 505 Barton Springs Road from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to register for overnight shelter.
The proposed design includes larger sidewalks, an access lane for deliveries and drop-offs and two lanes for vehicles going westbound.
Race officials said road closures will begin as early as 3 a.m. Sunday, though most will start around 6 a.m. Streets are expected to reopen gradually throughout the late morning, with most roads being reopened by noon. Some downtown roads will close earlier and reopen later due to event staging.
The airport will build two new remote satellite concourses as part of the expansion program: Concourse B with 26 gates and Concourse M with six gates. The plan also includes new taxiways and other infrastructure to support the expansion, all of which are due for completion by the mid-2030s.
The Austin Fire Department said on Friday, Jan. 16, around 2:36 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire in a condo building at 301 W 29th St. Officials said the fire was on the third floor balcony and extended into the attic. Residents were evacuated safely and there were no reported injuries.
