The Minnesota Gophers are losing superstar Koi Perich to the transfer portal where multiple blue bloods are already showing interest.

Perich joins two other key players from last year’s team — redshirt sophomore cornerback Za’Quan Bryan and redshirt freshman running back Fame Ijeboi — in exploring their options at other programs. The majority of the group, however, is comprised of role players, little-used backups, hardly-knew-ya freshmen or walk-ons.

Durr's initial reaction to the report from ESPN's Pete Thamel was just one word: Traitor. He doubled down in a quote tweet of Thamel's follow-up to the initial report, which said that Perich hasn't ruled out a return to Minnesota. "Nah don't come back!" Durr wrote in all caps.

Koi Perich, the star safety from Esko, Minn., who just completed his sophomore season with the Gophers, intends to enter his name into the transfer portal and explore his collegiate options. Perich, who earned second-team All-America honors from the Sporting News as a freshman in 2024, has not ruled out returning to the Gophers.
